Directed by Szabolcs Hajdu • 2014 • Hungary, Slovakia
Starring Isaach De Bankolé, Răzvan Vasilescu, Orsolya Török-Illyés
In this tantalizingly enigmatic neo-western, Francis (Isaach de Bankolé), a mysterious soccer player from the Ivory Coast, turns up in a small Hungarian town. Escaping from the police, he finds refuge on a remote farm—but what at first appears to be a sanctuary turns out to be another kind of trap. Atmospheric cinematography and music enhance the dreamlike tone of this mesmerizing mood piece, which plays like a Sergio Leone western by way of Jim Jarmusch.
