Directed by Suzanne Lindon • 2021 • France
Starring Suzanne Lindon, Arnaud Valois, Florence Viala
The delicate, beautifully observed debut feature from writer-director-star Suzanne Lindon is the rare tale of adolescent romantic awakening to be told from the perspective of an actual teenager. Lindon was fifteen when she wrote the script for this portrait of Suzanne (played by Lindon herself), a sixteen-year-old girl whose estrangement from her peers leads her to a fascination with an older actor (Arnaud Valois). Despite the difference in their ages, they find in each other, at least for moment, an answer to their mutual ennui. Earning comparisons to the work of Eric Rohmer, SPRING BLOSSOM offers an unusually honest, perceptive account of adolescent yearning from a talent to watch.
