Directed by Donald Cammell • 1987 • United Kingdom
Starring David Keith, Cathy Moriarty, Alan Rosenberg
In this singularly berserk western-giallo hybrid from Donald Cammell (a Scottish painter turned filmmaker who most famously codirected the cult classic PERFORMANCE with Nicolas Roeg), sound expert Paul White (David Keith) finds himself the prime suspect in a series of grisly murders of wealthy Arizona housewives. When his wife, Joan (Cathy Moriarty), sets out to prove his innocence, she begins to uncover disturbing truths about her husband. Surreal cinematography, innovative editing, and a score by 10cc’s Rick Fenn and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason enhance the air of Lynchian menace.
