Directed by Eric Red • 1991 • United States
Starring Jeff Fahey, Lindsay Duncan, Kim Delaney
Inspired by a novel by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac (whose work had previously been adapted for the screen in the form of the suspense classics VERTIGO and DIABOLIQUE), this satisfyingly grisly slice of psychological body horror stars Jeff Fahey as a criminal psychologist leading a normal life—until a car accident and an experimental operation, from which he emerges with the grafted arm of a convicted murderer that seems to have a mind of its own. Brad Dourif costars as a painter who received a limb from the same body and who has undergone a similarly disturbing transformation.
