Directed by acclaimed cinematographer turned filmmaker Ernest R. Dickerson (Spike Lee’s regular DP from his debut short through MALCOLM X), the first theatrical feature derived from HBO’s hit horror-anthology series “Tales from the Crypt” is a deliriously entertaining supernatural thriller in which a devilish stranger (Billy Zane) unleashes the forces of darkness upon the unsuspecting tenants of a desert boardinghouse. Jada Pinkett Smith costars as one of the rare Black final girls in Hollywood horror.
