Denis Villeneuve’s striking feature debut is a minimalistic existential odyssey graced with his characteristically sublime visuals. Young model Simone (Pascale Bussières) is involved in a near-fatal car crash, and as she questions her mortality, she also decides to have a baby. Her candidate for a father is her best friend, Phillipe (Alexis Martin), who happens to be seeing someone. He agrees, as long as they conceive in Salt Lake City, in the desert. Along the way, their trip carries casually profound lessons about love, solitude, and self-discovery.
