Developed over five years in collaboration with its actors, this genre-spanning examination of postmillennial alienation and dislocation by Athina Rachel Tsangari merges slapstick with surrealism, film noir with science fiction, tragedy with travelogue, and multimedia with melodrama. As agent Petra Going travels the globe, she has encounters with assassins, gangsters, tango dancers, and soccer players. All of these are recorded and transmitted back to the headquarters of her employer—the Global Nomad Project—where her memories can be downloaded and experienced by others. THE SLOW BUSINESS OF GOING, made in 2002, seems eerily prophetic about our current compulsive relationship with social media.
