In the satisfying closing chapter of director Hal Hartley’s trilogy about the fractured Grim family (preceded by HENRY FOOL and FAY GRIM), young son Ned (Liam Aiken) embarks on a quest to kill his father for wrecking his mom’s life—until a troubled graduate student (Aubrey Plaza) with a secret past interferes with his plan. Hartley’s most recent feature finds his distinctive comic dialogue at its most delicious, with Plaza’s deadpan performance style proving a perfect delivery system for it.
