Susan Seidelman’s follow-up to DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN is a witty sci-fi screwball, with John Malkovich in a memorably offbeat dual role as the ambitious scientist Jeff Peters and his remarkable invention, Ulysses, an android that looks exactly like him. The trouble: the coldly clinical Peters is unable to imbue Ulysses with anything resembling human warmth. Enter PR ace Frankie Stone (Ann Magnuson), who is recruited to give Ulysses a crash course in emotion—only to find herself falling for the machine-man she has molded into the perfect mate.
