Directed by Susan Seidelman • 1989 • United States
Starring Meryl Streep, Roseanne Barr, Ed Begley Jr.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned in this marvelously wicked black comedy. In her no-holds-barred first foray into comedy, Meryl Streep plays a glamorous romance novelist who, when she lures a married man (Ed Begley Jr.) away from his family, incurs the demonic wrath of his frumpy, suburban wife (Roseanne Barr) who sets out to get even in spectacular fashion. Adapting a novel by Fay Weldon, director Susan Seidelman delivers a gleeful feminist revenge romp that goes deliriously, delightfully over-the-top.
