Frontier Marshal
Directed by Allan Dwan • 1939 • United States
Starring Randolph Scott, Nancy Kelly, Cesar Romero
Famously remade by John Ford as MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (with some scenes taken almost directly from this film), FRONTIER MARSHAL was one of the the first of Hollywood’s many dramatizations of the Wyatt Earp legend and his involvement in the much mythologized gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Randolph Scott steps into the spurs of the famed lawman as he attempts to quiet the rowdy town of Tombstone, Arizona. He’s successful with the exception of Curly Bill and his gang, who, after they kill Doc Holliday (Cesar Romero), force the marshal to settle the score.
