Playwright and screenwriter Samson Raphaelson worked on nine films with director Ernst Lubitsch, including TROUBLE IN PARADISE, THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER, and HEAVEN CAN WAIT. As critic Richard Corliss said, “In his work with the immortal Ernst, he created a most highly polished and perfectly sustained comedy style.” In 1977, Samson Raphaelson appeared with film critic Richard Corliss at the Museum of Modern Art in New York to screen and discuss HEAVEN CAN WAIT as part of a series of seminars with screenwriters.
