Starring Shirley Temple, Jean Hersholt, Arthur Treacher

Pint-sized sunbeam Shirley Temple was at the height of her box-office-conquering popularity when she starred in this touching musical adaptation of the classic children’s book by Johanna Spyri, handsomely directed by veteran craftsman Allan Dwan. Swiss orphan Heidi (Shirley Temple) lives happily in the mountains with her gruff but loving grandfather (Jean Hersholt) when she is whisked away by her selfish aunt to be a companion to Klara (Marcia Mae Jones), the sheltered, wheelchair-bound daughter of a wealthy family. Through a series of trials and tribulations, the cheerful Heidi never gives up hope that she will one day be reunited with her beloved grandfather.
