Four of the brightest stars of the thirties—Jean Harlow, William Powell, Myrna Loy, and Spencer Tracy—shine in this madcap screwball romance. It all starts when society diva Connie Allenbury (Loy) slaps newspaper editor Warren Haggerty (Tracy) with a $5,000,000 libel suit. In desperation, Haggerty enlists his fiancée (Harlow) and a down-on-his-luck former reporter (Powell) in a counter-maneuver involving a rigged marriage, a phony seduction, a fabulously funny fishing scene, fisticuffs, broken promises and hearts, and, eventually, true love for all.
