Directed by Rowland Brown and W. S. Van Dyke • 1936 • United States
Starring Freddie Bartholomew, Jackie Cooper, Mickey Rooney
Written and partially directed by an uncredited Rowland Brown (along with THIN MAN helmer W. S. Van Dyke, who ultimately took over the production), this blend of lighthearted comedy and social drama brings together three of the biggest child stars of the 1930s. Claude (Freddie Bartholomew), a wealthy boy from England, learns about life in America from Gig (Mickey Rooney), a poor street kid. Along with Buck (Jackie Cooper), the three boys are soon facing the judge in juvenile court.
