Naming Ben as his trail boss, Stark enlists him to drive 4,000 head of cattle 1,500 miles from San Antonio to Montana. Along the way, Ben rescues the feisty Nella Turner (Jane Russell) from a Sioux attack—setting the stage for a love triangle as tensions simmer between Stark and the Allison brothers over the course of the treacherous journey.
