From 1940s New York to 1950s Mexico City, the artistic and love lives of writers William S. Burroughs (Kiefer Sutherland), Lucien Carr (Norman Reedus), Allen Ginsberg (Ron Livingston), and Jack Kerouac (Daniel Martínez) converge, with Burroughs’s wife, the brilliant and volatile intellectual Joan Vollmer (Courtney Love), at the group’s center. As sexual boundaries break down and romantic rivalries simmer, a night of drunken debauchery takes a shocking turn that will haunt the group forever.
