In this companion piece to director Elisabeth Subrin’s MARIA SCHNEIDER, 1983, the filmmaker once again enlists French Lebanese actor Manal Issa to recreate a revealing 1983 interview with actor Maria Schneider. This time, filming from a seemingly empty apartment in Beirut amid escalating Israeli air strikes, Issa answers the questions fully in her own words, giving voice to her perspective as an Arab woman reconsidering her relationship to a capitalist-driven film industry from which she feels increasingly estranged.
