Cohen and Tate

The directorial debut from THE HITCHER screenwriter Eric Red is another brutally effective, noir-tinged road thriller that taps into the dread-inducing desolation of the open highway after dark. Cohen (Roy Scheider) and Tate (Adam Baldwin) are a pair of mismatched hit men, the former a seasoned professional who has held onto his humanity, the latter a violent psychopath. Tasked with kidnapping Travis (Harley Cross), a nine-year-old boy in the witness protection program, and bringing him from Oklahoma to Texas, the pair assassinate the boy’s parents and hit the road—while their unexpectedly wily hostage uses his wits to pit his captors against each other.
