A Very Straight Neck

The physical and the emotional merge in director Neo Sora’s atmospheric adaptation of Momoe Narazaki’s graphic short story “I Will Go Ahead.” Sakura Ando plays a woman struggling with a painful kink in her neck, a seemingly innocuous condition that reflects a much deeper unease. As she revisits memories of a childhood friend, her body becomes an unconscious mirror, reflecting the hidden violence and contradictions that permeate her life and the world around her.
