Way of a Gaucho

Gloriously shot on location in Argentina, Jacques Tourneur’s majestic South American western is beautifully composed in the dusty browns, pale greens, and brilliant sky blues of the pampas. It’s there that a hot-tempered gaucho (Rory Calhoun) deserts the army and goes rogue to lead a band of cowboy outlaws in revolt against the railroad developers threatening their traditional way of life. Gene Tierney costars as an aristocrat turned bandit bride in this eloquent tale of the clash between individual freedom and the subjugating forces of civilization.
