The Gift

Actor Joel Edgerton made a striking directorial debut with this intelligently unnerving, cunningly crafted tale of domestic bliss shattered by shocking revelations. Soon after relocating to Los Angeles, happily married couple Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) find themselves being visited by Gordo (Edgerton), Simon’s former high school classmate, who insinuates himself into their lives by repeatedly bringing them gifts. As the off-kilter Gordo’s behavior grows increasingly disturbing, Robyn begins to wonder what secrets her husband may be hiding about their past connection.
