Neon Genesis Evangelion

Gendo Ikari summons his son Shinji to pilot Evangelion Unit-01 against an attacking angel, but the overwhelmed boy has difficulty accepting the assignment.

After piloting the Eva Unit 01 in battle, Shinji awakens in hospital with no memory of what happened. Feeling sorry for him, Misato allows Shinji to move in with her.

Shinji’s status as an Eva pilot changes his standing among his classmates and puts him at odds with Toji. Shinji is called back into action when another angel arrives.

Stressed after his last battle, Shinji runs away from home and meets Kensuke. Misato gives him a choice when he is brought back in.

Unit 00’s pilot Rei Ayanami seems to have recovered, but has no friends, no record of her past, and no interest in getting to know Shinji.

As the fifth angel drives toward NERV, Misato leads Operation Yashima. All of Japan’s power will be diverted to attack Ramiel with a positron rifle.

Ritsuko tells Shinji the true cause of the Second Impact, which is classified. Then she and Misato head to the field test for an Eva competitor mecha.

Shinji and his friends join Misato to meet Eva Unit 02 and its brash new pilot Asuka at sea. Misato’s old friend Ryoji Kaji is also on board, but has his own agenda.

Asuka and Shinji face another angel but are unsuccessful at defeating it. They now have only six days to perfect synchronised moves to destroy the angel completely.

NERV find out about an angel in dormant embryonic form inside a volcano and send Asuka to retrieve it with Unit 02, using equipment designed for magma.

Tokyo-3 loses power right before the detection of another Angel. The Eva pilots must find their way back to headquarters from the surface.

The 10th Angel is detected in orbit, aiming to bomb Tokyo-3. Misato is promoted to major while Gendo and Fuyutsuki are away in Antarctica.

An Angel infiltrates NERV’s system and the MAGI supercomputer risks being infected. Ritsuko races to stop the takeover.

Ritsuko conducts a test in which the Eva pilots switch units, but it goes horribly wrong. A surprising revelation comes to light about the units.

Kaji is revealed as a spy for the Japanese government. Shinji and his father share a moment at his mother’s grave, and Asuka goes dating.

NERV deploys all three Evangelions to take down an unusual Angel. Shinji encounters a strange experience in the midst of battle.

NERV-02 in Nevada vanishes, along with the Eva Unit 04. Misato is interrogated about the encounter. Ritsuko assigns a pilot to Unit 03.

Unit 03 arrives from the United States, but the identity of the pilot is a mystery to Shinji. NERV gets a surprise during the testing phase.

After the battle, Shinji vows to never pilot an Eva again and quits NERV once more. NERV is under attack from yet another Angel.

Shinji becomes trapped inside his Eva after achieving an unheard-of synchronisation rate. NERV rushes to salvage him.

Seele interrogates Fuyutsuki about NERV and Gendo’s true intentions. Ryoji goes missing. Ikari and the committee are at odds about the use of Unit 01.

As Asuka’s synchronisation ratio continues to drop, she slips into a depression. To prove her worth, she ignores critical orders during battle.

Asuka is ordered to assist Rei in battle against Armisael, a shape-shifting Angel. Rei makes a desperate attempt to save Shinji.

Shrouded in mystery, the arrival of the new pilot Kaworu Nagisa arouses everyone’s suspicions. He acts friendly to Shinji.

The Human Instrumentality Project commences. Still struggling with his deadly act, Shinji wonders about the nature of his existence.

A tormented Shinji is stuck at a crossroads. He must decide whether to accept a world alone, or embrace connections with others.
