Chris Strachwitz, a friend and collaborator of director Les Blank’s, founded Arhoolie Records in 1960, and Mance Lipscomb’s “Texas Sharecropper and Songster” was the label’s first release. In this interview, conducted in July 2014, Strachwitz tells the story of meeting the famous blues musician who became one of Blank’s subjects.
