Like many of Fassbinder's actors, Rosel Zech began her professional career in the theater. Her interpretation of Hedda in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler won her recognition in Germany as Best Actress of the Year in 1977. She began her film work in 1973, working with top German directors, and through Fassbinder, she met Juliane Lorenz, editor of nearly a dozen of his films. This conversation was recorded in 2003.
