One of the finest of the faux-documentary horror films that proliferated in the 2000s, this profoundly unnerving exploration of loss, grief, and family secrets convincingly assumes the form of a television special centered on the Palmers, an Australian family whose world is turned upside down when their sixteen-year-old daughter Alice drowns while on a lake trip. But when Alice begins appearing in photographs and videos taken after the incident, it opens up disturbing questions about the mystery of both her life and death.
