Starring Matthew Goode, Ben Whishaw, Hayley Atwell
Evelyn Waugh’s classic novel of class, Catholicism, forbidden desire, and youthful abandon giving way to adult disillusionment comes to the screen in a seductively opulent adaptation. In 1920s England, middle-class aspiring artist Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) discovers a dazzling new world when he comes to stay at Brideshead, the sprawling estate of his aristocratic Oxford University friend Lord Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw). As Charles becomes enmeshed in the lavish world of Brideshead, he finds himself navigating flickers of attraction to both Sebastian and his sister Julia (Hayley Atwell).
