Leaving November 30
•
1h 40m
Directed by Pedro Almodóvar • 1983 • Spain
Starring Julieta Serrano, Marisa Paredes, Chus Lampreave
Pedro Almodóvar’s third feature is an outrageously funny, gleefully subversive skewering of Catholic piety bursting with his bold visual imagination. In trouble with the law, nightclub singer Yolanda (Cristina Sánchez Pascual) goes on the run and winds up taking in refuge in a convent where the Mother Superior (Julieta Serrano) has the hots for her and the sisters—played by a host of Almodóvar regulars including Carmen Maura, Marisa Paredes, and Chus Lampreave—spend their free time experimenting with LSD, penning erotic fiction, and cavorting with their pet tiger.
