One of a handful of films French director René Clair made in Hollywood, this delightful period comedy displays the elegant mix of fantasy and whimsy that so often graced his work. When he miraculously begins receiving copies of the next day’s newspaper in advance, it at first seems like the break of a lifetime for turn-of-the-century reporter Lawrence Stevens (Dick Powell). But knowing the future comes with its fair share of complications, as Stevens finds out when a headline foretells his own death!
