Directed by Daniel Peddle • 2023 • United States
Twenty-five years after Daniel Peddle’s groundbreaking documentary THE AGGRESSIVES introduced the world to an inspiring group of trailblazing transmasculine heroes, BEYOND THE AGGRESSIVES: 25 YEARS LATER catches up with four of the film’s original subjects. Kisha, Trevon, Octavio and Chin are back, sharing their triumphs and challenges, including pursuing dreams in the arts, surviving the experience of being held in ICE detention, reuniting with estranged children, deciding whether to start families, and seeking gender-affirming health care. The new film also delves into how much the language, culture, and visibility of the transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming community has evolved, while grappling with the many complexities of gender identity, expectations, and expression.
