Ken Russell’s typically outlandish take on Oscar Wilde’s controversial biblical play “Salome” sees Wilde himself (played Nickolas Grace) attending a staging of his then-banned work put on by friends at a hedonistic London brothel. Of course, this being a Ken Russell film, it’s far from a straightforward production, with eye-popping sets, outrageous camp spectacle, and lurid behind-the-scenes drama all part of a deliriously decadent evening at the theater like no other.
