Stage Fright

Stage Fright

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock • 1950 • United Kingdom
Starring Jane Wyman, Marlene Dietrich, Michael Wilding

One of Alfred Hitchcock’s most overlooked thrillers finds him teaming up with an all-star cast—including the ever-glamorous Marlene Dietrich—for a twisty tale of murder in the London theater world, where few people are who they seem. When witnesses see Jonathan Cooper (Richard Todd) fleeing the scene of a murder, he asks his former girlfriend, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts student Eve Gill (Jane Wyman), for help. Believing him innocent, she uses her skills at stagecraft to investigate suspicious chanteuse Charlotte Inwood (Dietrich). Now, as Eve plays a game of cat and mouse with a Scotland Yard detective (Michael Wilding), she has no clue of the deadly secret her sleuthing will uncover.
