The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus
Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg • 1996 • United Kingdom
Filmed before a live audience in London in 1968, THE ROLLING STONES ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS was originally conceived as a BBC television special—but it would ultimately be nearly thirty years before this all-star concert-film spectacular would see its release. Conceived by the Stones and director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the film captures “the world’s greatest rock-and-roll band” at their peak in vibrant color alongside extraordinary performances by the Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, as well as the Dirty Mac, a supergroup made up of John Lennon, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, and Mitch Mitchell.
