Before he inspired anticolonial resistance movements around the world with his revolutionary writings, Frantz Fanon made his mark as the head of a psychiatric unit at a hospital in the Algerian city of Blida, where he worked to radically transform the racist, inhumane treatment practices of the white, French doctors.
