John Singleton’s follow-up to BOYZ N THE HOOD casts two of the biggest music superstars of the 1990s—Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur—and builds a free-flowing road-movie romance around their undeniable chemistry. The sensitive Justice (Jackson) works as a hairdresser and writes poetry to cope with the heartbreak of a lover lost to a gangster’s gun. Meanwhile, Lucky (Shakur) resists the temptations of life on the street for a steady job as a mail carrier while spending his weekends perfecting hip-hop manifestos in his cousin’s recording studio. They are thrown together on a chance road trip from Los Angeles to Oakland—a trip destined to open their eyes to lives they had never imagined.
