This performance of Likely Consequence, a satirical play cowritten and directed by Edward Yang, took place in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1992. That year, Yang founded his own theater company, where the actors—many of whom later appeared in his films—experimented with the heightened dramatic styles that would inform A CONFUCIAN CONFUSION and MAHJONG.
