1h 38m
Directed by Rebecca Miller • 2015 • United States
Starring Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore
Rebecca Miller’s wittily sophisticated modern spin on the screwball romance stars Greta Gerwig as Maggie, a vibrant, practical-minded New Yorker who, without success in love, decides to have a child on her own. But her well-laid plans for single motherhood go awry when she suddenly falls for John Harding (Ethan Hawke), an anthropology professor and struggling novelist. Complicating matters further, John is in an unhappy marriage with Georgette (Julianne Moore), an ambitious academic who is driven by her work. With some help from Maggie’s eccentric best friends, married couple Tony (Bill Hader) and Felicia (Maya Rudolph), Maggie sets in motion a new plan that entwines their lives in surprising ways.
