On July 6, 1971, in a legendary appearance, film critic Pauline Kael was a guest on “The Dick Cavett Show” and defended MCCABE & MRS. MILLER against some early negative reviews. On August 16 of that year, director Robert Altman himself appeared on the show to discuss the film and its reception.
