Starring Sylvia Chang, Karena Lam, Winston Chao
A stunning performance by Taiwanese-cinema legend Sylvia Chang anchors this elegant exploration of motherhood, grief, and regret from rising director Huang Xi. Executive-produced by Chang and filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien, DAUGHTER’S DAUGHTER follows Jin (Sylvia Chang), a sixty-four-year-old, recently retired divorcee who has complicated relationships with her two daughters: Emma (Karena Lam), whom she gave up for adoption in New York, and the rebellious Zuer (Eugenie Liu), a lesbian pursuing IVF with her girlfriend. When Zuer and her partner die in a tragic accident and Jin becomes the guardian of their frozen embryo, she is forced to face both her fractured relationship with Emma and the fate of an unborn child.
