Starring George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson
The Coen brothers’ (extremely loose) take on Homer’s “Odyssey” is a marvelously freewheeling journey through the Depression-era South overflowing with comic adventure, irresistible period folk music, and the kind of colorful characters only they could conjure. Fed up with crushing rocks on a prison farm in Mississippi, the dapper, silver-tongued Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) busts loose—except that he's still shackled to two misfits from his chain gang: bad-tempered Pete (John Turturro) and sweet, dim-witted Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson). With nothing to lose and buried loot to regain, the three embark on a riotous odyssey filled with chases, close calls, near misses, betrayal, and all manner of strange encounters.
